Nīkau Midwives
Kāpiti Coast Midwifery Care
Are you looking for a midwife on the Kāpiti Coast?
Nīkau Midwives commenced practice in 1998 to provide extensive midwifery care to the women of the Kāpiti Coast.
We aim to provide continuity of midwifery care through pregnancy, labour, birth and up to six weeks after your baby’s birth.
We have found that this care leads to excellent results — both in satisfaction and outcomes — for women and their babies.
Nīkau Midwives have consistent back-up from our group midwives and colleagues. We have regular organised time off.
During your pregnancy you can meet and discuss your care plan with a back-up midwife at an arranged appointment.
All Nīkau Midwives are Registered with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand and are members of the New Zealand College of Midwives.
Full midwifery care is provided for women living from Paekakariki in the south to Ōtaki in the north and the Akatarawas in the east.
Women in Ōtaki are on the border of the MidCentral (Palmerston North) and Capital & Coast (Wellington) District Health Boards. Nīkau Midwives access Capital & Coast DHB facilities, so we provide care only for women happy to access any additional care via Paraparaumu, Kenepuru and Wellington.
Postnatal care and/or shared care is offered for women living from Paekakariki to Ōtaki.
